Who am I?

If you’re somehow finding yourself on this tucked away blog page in the corner of the internet now here to be found then I would wager that you may know me first hand. I’m a Sheffield based independent creative freelancer working mostly in the area of film. I’ve been working in this industry to a degree for the last 10 years but lately I’ve wanted to try and challenge myself and become more involved. I’ve challenged myself in creative ways within my time writing, directing and producing independent theatre, music videos and short films but my new years resolution for this year is to develop myself as a freelancer and grow my skills.

What are my influences?

I take inspiration from a variety of mediums, some of my favourite directors that I take influence from are Robert Eggers, and David Lynch. I’m a big horror fan in general and like to find inspiration wherever it can be found. From places to people, music to games.

What’s with the blog?

So as I mentioned before I’ve challenged myself in creative ways within my time in the industry and a large part of that has been writing. The form can always change from scripts to treatments to simple journaling but this year I want to experiment writing some posts about things I’m passionate about - Filmmaking. I want to leave a trail of my own personal development to look back on over my journey whether talking about something that I find inspires me or talking about the ups and downs of working within the industry. Whilst I really hope that this becomes of interest to more people as I continue to write, this is an exercise that I believe I will feel the benefit of more than anyone else.

What can we hope to see?

If I’m honest… Who’s to say? While this is far from my first writing experience it’s my first time taking on blogging as a whole. I wish to document my development as I create more music videos and short films. I will also be doing some posts on some of my favourite pieces of arts like my favourite films, directors, creatives.

As I said this blog is going to act as a little spot to keep you up to date with my creative endeavours.
